The Intermediate Division is open to musicians who were placed in SYSO’s Prelude*, Symphonette, and Debut Symphony Orchestras; MY Southeast; and Seattle Conservatory of Music musicians** in the 2024-25 season (last season).


The Advanced Division is open to musicians who were placed in SYSO’s Junior and Youth Symphony Orchestras, and Seattle Conservatory of Music musicians** in the 2024-25 season (last season).


Students new to SYSO will be placed in the division that best fits their experience and playing level based on audition videos.


Competition winners will perform their pieces during the 2025-2026 season. The SYSO Music Director and Orchestra Director will determine the performance location, date, and the accompanying orchestra based on artistic and logistical considerations.


* Musicians in Prelude who are interested in competing are encouraged to fill out this form for a pre-screening opportunity before applying.


** Seattle Conservatory of Music students not part of the Academic Year Orchestra Program will be placed in the division that best fits their playing level.
